Highlights from the final game of the 85/86 season where the basketball team beat Indiana 80-52 for the Big Ten title. One year before the 3 point line came to college basketball, and the players are wearing the 80′s short-shorts.

This is home movie footage given to me by Kurt O’Keefe to post online. Kurt had a pass for the 85-86 basketball season to guard the press parking lot. After Michigan’s season ending win over Indiana to win the big ten championship, he shot this footage of Bob Knight which started off the press conference. The best part of the video is at 4:30 in when Knight teases Don Canham (who is off camera) for staying the entire game for once. Apparently Canham was notorious for leaving games early. He left the football game against Illinois in 81 when we were down 21-7 and it looked like the Illini were going to score again. He went the rest of the day thinking we had lost until someone told him that evening that Michigan won 70-21. Anyway, it’s a fun watch just the same
